So I live in Chicago where going to work in itself is an adventure. You see cute guys and wannabe model types stuck with a day job to pay the rent. I understand. Believe me I do. I work long days and nights to do more then just make ends meet. I strive to get ahead. I work a full time job, run multiple websites, freelance computer consulting, and other things to furnish my apartment and earmark money for Starbucks.
Every morning its a decision to take the bus or the train. The red line is always packed unless you time it just right. If you do get a seat do you want to take it all the way downtown and walk the rest of the way or take the brown to get off right there where work is. Last month I had all this and more when trying to figure out where to move to.
This morning I took the train was running on time with none left to spare. I get on the red line and then transfer to the brown line where I have to stand, that’s cool no big deal to me. I get in a comfortable position to blog on my PDA without falling everytime the train stops. Every time the train stops I’m jutted into the passenger sitting directly in front of me. Its not like I was throwing the red eye into his face or elbowing him, I was just in his personal space for a few seconds. He decided that when this happened it was ok for him to shove me. After about three stops I had had enough. I can take the occasional bag in my backside, high heels on my shoes, the shoving to get off the train, but not the deliberate push I was getting from this guy. So I said stop pushing me dude, as I glanced over to see what he was reading. It looked like a Java swing book for beginners. He was either a wannabe programmer in the world of hardcore Java or some student. Anyway he says stop bumping into me. I had been aware of him since I got on the train it was packed like always. I told him, its morning rush hour, its crowded just deal. He said stop instant messaging people. I told him I was writing and was reading chill out. He stood up and was at lest a foot shorter then me and said I’m getting off here you want to come with me. I said get the fuck off the train asshole. Where did he get off trying to say what I could or couldn’t do on my morning commute. He also had a seat, that doesn’t entitle him not to be uncomfortable like everyone else. Show some dignity for yourself and respect others or take a fucking cab asshole.
